About Wonder 3D Prints

As it became clear that the world would be shutting down for a bit in early 2020 and I would have some extra time on my hands with my family I ordered something that I had always been curious about and would give my family something to do with our extra time. I ordered a 3d printer. It was a blast most of the time and it was fun coming up with the next print idea and seeing how it turned out.  Ordering more filament, finding new 3d artists, and showing off our creations to our friends and family. Wherever we went I would bring a pocket of fidgets and would even bring a box of prints to work meeting and I loved the Wonder in peoples eyes as they tried to figure out how this was 3d printed.  An articulating Cinderwing Crystal Dragon printed at one time, as one piece, with no assembly required does not compute to most people.

Dremel 3D Printer

Fast forward to early 2022 when I started seeing a new printer from a new company named Bambu Lab. It offered an array of modern features that were unbelievable at the time  Almost twice as fast as my current printer, high quality prints with a wide range of filament types, and advanced features like failure detections, heated bed, and a magnet bed with many build sheet options. I made the plunge and a whole new world of printing opened up when 95% of the prints were successful and they took half the time to print. I continued to print and share even more. I started hearing a common response.  "You should sell these".  That sounded like way too much work and I didn't have the time for it.

Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D Printer

Fast forward to the end of 2023 where my wife Heather and I were newly empty nesters with both of our girls at college. We were pretty good at keeping ourselves busy with home projects, pickleball, and catching up with friends we hadn't seen enough while we were consumed with kids activities. We've always thought about starting a business and finding ways to generate passive income and accelerate our path to retirement.  While working with our financial advisors at Evexia wealth the topic of hobbies and 3D printing came up and we discussed the possibility of creating a small business selling the 3D printed stuff I'd been giving away for free.  We jumped right in and by we, I really mean Heather.  She did all the hard work on setting up the LLC, getting organized around inventory and financial management, seetting up our Etsy and TikTok shops, and finding a local artisan market we could sell from.  We were off to the races....
